Digital Marketing is a way to promote your services or products through electronic means. For example, I have a site that has loads of gaming hardware and I want people to come to my site and see how beneficial, updated versions of equipment are trending in the market. The platforms that I will choose to promote my site could be of different types. This would enhance my site’s credibility because many would be coming to my site to get the accessories or whichever equipment they want.

Hence digital marketing could be done through different electronics like phones, tablets, etc. The promotion for the product could be in the form of a video, a picture, or anything. Digital marketing can be done offline too which is known to be traditional marketing like billboards, magazine ads, or television, etc. But in this article, we will be focusing on online marketing.  

Let’s take a look at different types or strategies for digitally marketing your product or service to the world.

1. Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is the one that is trending the most and it is also the most effective strategy that people are using nowadays. Social media marketing has paved the way for many to promote their business with their unique product. The platforms included in this type are Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube and there are others too but these are the ones that make the business boom. 

Let me give you an example of Tik Tok; people have many businesses going on this platform and they often make a very short video on it showing how they make their product that is sent to the customers. It can be a customized phone case or a customized cake. Or they tell a story while they are working on making the product, telling people all about their experiences with their customers. It can either be good or bad. Through likes and comments and shares, their video ends up trending and allows them to have a far better reach. 

Many people who order ask them to put up the video while they make their product as well!  

2. Website Marketing

For this strategy or type to work you need to create a website with all the perfect color combinations and present the perfect graphical imagery for the people visiting your site. Present them with infographics of different products, or a carousel of your best-selling products, etc.

On the website, your consumers will be able to see honest user reviews that will pave the path for them to decide smartly. Along with that, you can also add some articles related to solid facts and helpful tips that could be beneficial for the audience. Which also urges your audience to read and gain valuable things from it for future use.   

Also, mobile optimization is extremely important. Make sure if people access your website from their mobile they are shown the perfect version of your site otherwise consumers may lose interest. Too many users hitting the back button without further interaction with your website will not sit well with any search engine.

3. Content Marketing

This type of marketing is excelling nowadays a lot. Whenever you want to search for the best products that will be perfect for yourself you stumble upon various sites that provide you with the very best in the market. Along with this, you will see a detailed review of the product as well that will be a truthful insight about the best products in the market. 

When you visit an e-commerce platform, like Amazon, it will only tell you why the product is worth your pretty penny but will fail to mention all the problems you might face. Meaning you would only be getting high boasting of how the product is perfect for you. That is where content marketing comes in, where the person running the content marketing site buys a bunch of products that have been released in the market, uses them critically, and writes a detailed review on their experience; explaining the product’s usage, effectiveness, and how to keep it maintained so that you can use it for a long period of time.

Moreover, in this content marketing the person knows his audience and knows exactly what to say to them and the content written would be in such a way that is engaging and instantly sparks the interest among the audience. Basically, the idea is to promote your business through different tactics. You just want to convince them to make a purchase. Plus the content marketing can be in many forms such as; blogging, videos, ebooks, infographics, podcasts, and testimonials.   

4. Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization i.e. SEO is known to be a very crucial part that needs to be followed if you want to see your site on the first page of google. Because when you make your site SEO friendly only then you will be able to excel on the first page of google. Think of all that organic traffic!  

For example, whenever you want to buy something without any question you go to search for it on google. That is where many sites pop up on the first page so that means the pages on the first page are SEO friendly. That is one of the major reasons they got there. Therefore if you won’t make them SEO friendly you will be losing the opportunity to be on the 1st position or even being on the first page. That means your business or the site won’t be getting the exposure that it needs and your target audience won’t be able to see your beautiful creation.    

5. Pay-Per-Click Advertising

This Pay-Per-Click i.e. PPC advertising is the quickest way to bring traffic to your own site that you have built. But the fact is through this method whatever traffic you receive is not considered organic. It is considered the quickest way because SEO takes a lot of time to bring the organic traffic to the site. 

How it works is that every time when a user clicks on your advertised ad, you would be paying for that click. Essentially, you would be paying a small amount of money to get the traffic to your page.   

6. Affiliate Marketing

This type of marketing strategy is quite a well-worn and universally used form of digital marketing. What happens is that you offer an affiliate program on your product and when one of your affiliates refers a product to someone and they end up buying it following the referral link, then your affiliate will receive a small commission based on the purchase at no extra cost to the consumer, and you will have made a sale through the effort of your affiliate. 

By offering a small commission, you attract affiliate marketers who spend time and money on marketing your products to the relevant audience. In this win-win scenario, the marketer gets a cut of the profits, and you get loads of traffic to your site which would otherwise be quite hard to achieve.

7. Email Marketing

This is another source of marketing through which you can get traffic to your site. This type includes 4 types of email marketing like email newsletters, acquisition emails, retention emails, and promotional emails. 

Email marketing is used to form a communication with a customer who likes your products and buys them often and has subscribed to your business to get the emails about the new things or whatever you are offering them. So through this, they will be completely updated about your offers and they wouldn’t miss a thing.

In order to run a successful business, you have to do some type of marketing to promote your business. Otherwise, it would be impossible for you to become successful or excel in any way, as marketing is a very essential step to take when you want your business to grow.
